Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Flooring

The birds are chirping, the flowers are in bloom and the sun is out! Spring is here. Is your home ready for the lovely season ahead? Is it time for a spring cleaning? Your floor has to deal with the daily wear and tear and deserves a lot of care. So why not do it now?

Spring cleaning your floor

Your floor gets a lot of traffic every day but most especially during spring when people are expected to go in and out of the house regularly. If you have been wanting to clean your floor but have been setting it aside for a while, now is the perfect time to give your floor some serious cleaning. Spring cleaning is the perfect excuse to give your floor the care and love it deserves.

Before you go and start cleaning your floor, first, you need to determine what kind of flooring you have at home. Do you have a hardwood flooring, vinyl flooring or laminate floors? The type of cleaning you will need depends on your flooring materials to prevent making any irreversible damage.

Here are some spring-cleaning tips for your flooring:

For Tile flooring

For tile floors, make sure you vacuum the flooring surface first to get rid of pet hair, dust and other debris. You can use a chemical cleaner to clean your floor, but make sure it is safe and recommended by the expert. Do not use sponge mop because it can push dirt into the grout tracks making it harder to clean.

For Hardwood flooring

A simple sweeping or vacuum can do the trick. If you need to use a cleaner, stay away from products with harsh chemicals as it can scratch your hardwood floor.

For vinyl flooring

A thorough swifter can clean your vinyl floors. For a cleaning solution, you can consider using non sudsy ammonia, mix it with water to dilute it and you can use it to keep your vinyl floors clean and beautiful to look at.

For laminated flooring

When you need to vacuum your floor, use the wand attachment. For cleaning, use a dust mop or damp cloth to avoid damaging your laminate floor. When there are wet areas, make sure to dry the area thoroughly because laminated floors can be slippery especially when being cleaned. For salt stain, use a damp cloth to get rid of it.

For carpets

Vacuuming your carpet regularly can keep it clean but if you need a deep cleaning, you can consider hiring a professional carpet cleaning service to do the job for you.

Keeping your floor clean is an easy task by having a daily cleaning habit. However, getting a good spring cleaning is one of the most effective ways to give your home a fresh feel.
